Baptisms for some BUSS family members please * COMPLETED*
« on: Wednesday 15 April 20 07:04 BST (UK) »
Benjamin BUSS & Eliza NEWINGTON married 22 Apr 1825 at Ticehurst.

I located Benjamin, an Attorney at Law, in 1826 at Mayfield, Sussex.Benjamin & Eliza remained at Mayfield for the rest of their lives.

Based on Census records Benjamin was born in Mayfield around 1790. As yet I have not located his baptism and as a result his parents are as yet unknown.

I cannot locate his daughter Elizabeth's baptism [around 1835] and am hoping for some assistance to locate this plus Benjamin's.

Elizabeth went on to marry Edgar ROSE in Mayfield in 1856.  A related post at https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=773896.0

Benjamin Buss, son of Benjamin & Fanny Buss bp Mayfield 14 Feb 1800.

There doesn't appear to be an Elizabeth Buss baptism to Benjamin in Mayfield.

Thanks Pheno,

Most curious.  I had wondered if Elizabeth was perhaps Eliza etc however in the 1841 census Benjamin & Eliza BUSS'S children are Benjamin 15, Frances 14, Eliza 13, Sarah 11, William 10, Susanna 8, Elizabeth 5, Caroline 4 and Victoria aged 3.  In the 1851 Elizabeth is aged 15 which tallies.  All children were said to be born in Mayfield.

Any ideas???

What is the source/reference for Benjamin's baptism please?

To continue the BUSS baptisms:

Albert 1840
Caroline 1842
Frederick Thomas 1843  but couldn't see any more after that.

Hello Pheno,

I don't know - in the 1841 census there were two girls with similar names being:
Eliza aged 13
Elizabeth aged 5

In the 1851 census the children living with their parents are Benjamin a Solicitor aged 25, Eliza 23 [a birth around 1828] , Sarah 21, William 20, Susannah 18, Elizabeth aged 15 [makes a birth around 1836] and Victoria 13 are living at Cardswell House. ??? ??? ???
