Albert Lewis forest of dean
« on: Friday 17 April 20 16:12 BST (UK) »
Alfred/Albert Lewis has totally stumped me. Any help please?

Alfred or Albert as he came was born 1894 inWhitecroft to Luke Lewis and his wife Annis.

Luke died and Annis remarried Thomas Hill.

In 1901 Alfred was 7 with his step father Thomas and mother Annis.
In 1911 he became Albert and was with his stepfather Thomas and siblings Annis and Gladys Hill.

I cannot find anything definite that happened to this man who is my 2nd great uncle, I do have a potential death in whitecroft in 1974.

Any help would be much appreciated. Nicky

Maybe he went to war?  He would have been in his 20's then.  Are there any likely military records for him.

No wonder I was having trouble - in 1901 Annice is transcribed as Annie and on the next census Albert is transcribed as Albert Reives.

That may help anyone else looking.

What about the 1939 register are there any possibilities for him there?

Exact birth date would help there because he could be under Alfred or Albert  :-\
