Less Well Known Non-Conformist Groups?
« on: Saturday 18 April 20 10:32 BST (UK) »
I have an 1840's London brick wall. No apparent marriage and two un-christened daughters. It has been pointed out that a marriage and baptisms may have taken place but only within the practices of a small and less well known religious group.

Here and there records  of such, do exist I am told, but without any specific locations given.

Does anybody know of groups like this in Victorian London? Any information or advice would be welcome.

There are many such smaller groups ie my family line were Wesleyan Methodists from Bedfordshire.

I do note Middlesex also comes up with my family name

Thanks David but I am actually looking for groups rather more obscure than the Methodists. Equally BMD not really relevant to a 'brick wall'.

if the marriage was in the 1840s, it should still show up in the GRO index. A registrar would need to be present at the marriage for it to be legal.

Hi Osprey, legal is not being considered here. I am talking about very small groups / sects, who did things there own way. It still goes on today. To the outsider such people would appear unbaptised and unmarried.

As previously mentioned, some of these groups did keep their own records. My interests are specifically were any such groups operating in Victorian London.
