Immigration Leah Goldstein
« on: Tuesday 21 April 20 12:35 BST (UK) »
Got back to one of my "brickwalls" after many moons.

Looking for when Leah Goldstein and David Goldstein came to the UK from Russia.
Give a long winded insight what I have on them.

Leah Goldstein (neč Labisky) 1874-1946 born in Russia (Vilna?).  Husband David Goldstein who died in Liverpool in 1910 and last address 6 Edge Mount, West Derby, Liverpool.
In 1911 Leah(Russian Subject) was at 16 Fortescue Street, West Derby, Liverpool with her two children; Lazarus b. 1898 Whitechapel, London (mother Labiskie) and Gertrude born 1895 St. George in the East (Never found her Birth certificate).
In 1931 she married Louis Kapatofsky in Manchester and lived at 69 Heywood Street, Cheetham Hill, Manchester until her Death.  Louis died in 1936.
Salford Aliens Record 14/07/1941 - Formerly registered in Liverpool 10/11/1917.  Nationality Russian b. 15/12/1974 (looks like Vilna) and resident 69 Heywood Street.  (Widow). Arrival in UK 1910 from Russia.
Confused son born in 1898 and is correct and Aliens Record states arrival 1910. Daughter Gertrude must have been born in Russia.

Thanks for the patience and grateful for any ideas.

No I cannot find.  Another point not to be mixed up with David & Leah Goldstein - Grocers - in Cheetham Hill.

Have you checked the Hamburg Passenger Lists on Ancestry? (needs a Worldwide subscription)

Enter minimum data to search on, and be creative with spelling.

My initial research goes back a few years when I was subscribed to Anc.  and remember checking some of the Hamburg arrivals.  Came to a stop because my Italian debit/credit card was not accepted by Anc and could not renew.  No idea why and Anc. have never told me why.  I  have a note from sometime ago - no idea who gave me this info - that " David Goldstein arrived in Hull and went by train to Liverpool".  However If the children were born in London they must have arrived there (?).  How they came to Liverpool from there - no idea why, seems so far, unless they were going to the USA and David died in the meantime.
Its a needle in a big haystack and I would like to know, but I do not want people to burn their brains out.  Bits of info where to look is helpful for me to research also.
Just a footnote; The Alien Records for Liverpool, which would have helped, were all destroyed during WW2.

I appreciate your time and thank you

I read through your other threads but did not find anything for David's burial in 1910. So I was going to ask if you have looked for that record, because if there is a stone it should name his father.

But, sadly, there is no stone. Also, his age is different there, which you may want to take into account, if not already noted.

Sorry.
