William Bannister
« on: Tuesday 21 April 20 13:03 BST (UK) »
Hello

I have hit a brick wall when it comes to identifying the parents of William Bannister b 1818 ( aprox ) d 1903. He was a Chain manufacturer --information from census returns. These returns give his birth as Cradley Heath in Staffordshire .
I found one possible christening 10.5.1818 Penkridge-- parents Thomas and Elizabeth. Sorry dont
know the area so this may be nowhere near Cradley.

He married Mary Ann Barnsley on 9 Dec 1939 Dudley Staffs-.( I am ok with her line backwards)  They have at least 6 children, Sarah 1840-42,Jessie 1844,Elizabeth 1846,Sarah 1848, William,1850 and Mary Ann 1850s.  I am ok with going forward  but would like to discover who and where his parents are or any of his siblings.

Appreciate any information. Thank you .

So if the marriage was in 1839, you'll have address, parental and witness information.

What is listed on it?
Where exactly did the marriage occur?

If you look at the 1861 Census, Staffordshire, Rowley Regis, District 19 - page 7 of 48

New Town

Ancestry, transcibed as BANNASTER

Thomas - Head married - 51 Publican born New town Staffordshire  **
Elenor - wife - 48 born Dudley, Worcestershire
Jane CLARK, Niece UnM   - 22  Domestic Servant - born Brierley Hill, Stafford  **
Joseph FOWLER - Lodger - 37, Brafs Found born Birmingham, Warwickshire
Edwin NEWTON - ditto - mar - 52 Messenger born ditto

next door

Thomas BANNASTER - Grandson - UnM - 19 Accountant Nail Clarke born New Town, Staffordshire
(GRO Index, BANISTER, Thomas - mother's maiden name: BARNSLEY, 1842 M Qtr, Dudley Union)

so Sarah BANNISTER is his Grandmother and mother of William and probably Thomas the Publican

next door

William BANNISTER - Head - 40 - Chain Maker born Rowley, Staffordshire
Mary Ann - Wife - 48 born ditto

will have to go over the next census page....

Elizabeth BANNASTER - dau - UnM - 15 House Servant, born Rowley, Staffordshire

---

**

---

1841 Census, New Town, Rowley Regis, Staffordshire

Sarah BANNISTER - 55 - Publican, born in County

Sarah BANNISTER on one census says she was from Cradley, Worcestershire ...

Just a very quick check on Family Search for children of Thomas & Sarah BANNISTER at Cradley, Worcestershire

Joseph Bannister - birth 5 November 1812, christened 26 March 1815

Sarah - 12 April 1807

Family name: Jesse
