Where is this? Grandfather in WW1
« on: Wednesday 22 April 20 20:06 BST (UK) »
I wonder if anyone can recognise this location, please. I've just received it from my niece who took it with her iphone so not as clear as it could be. I've done a bit of a clean up but hope to get a proper scan soon.

My grandfather was in the RWF.

Thanks for any ideas.

Oh - it is isn't it,  Thank you so much  :)

I wonder when the RWF were there?

(Just noticed that I'd typed a ! rather than a 1 in the subject line so have edited)

I've just been reading about the destruction of the monument by the Nazis in WW2 and its reconstruction

Just seen this and knew I had seen it before, but couldn't place it. Glad it has been found or I would have been puzzling over it.

There were no RWF battalions with a posting as such in Nice during the WW1 conflict. He might have been there passing through France to an unit in other theatres e.g Palestine or India/Mespotamia.
What is his name/number? (address/home area if you haven't got his number)

I'll have to look it up in my records.  I think I raised some of his WW1 history on here a few years ago.

As far as I recall from his diaries, he was mainly in France.
