ROBERTS, james (c1801-8)
« on: Wednesday 29 April 20 04:29 BST (UK) »
James ROERTS claimed he was a native of Ross-on-Wye c1801-8 with parents James and Mary but I could not find a baptism in the Parish Registers that matched these criteria.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you to rosie99 and Brentor boy.
James Roberts gave the information regarding his birthplace and parents names on his emigration to Australia in 1858 and it is also given on his death certificate.
He married in County Monmouth in 1832 and the family appear on the 1841 and 1851 census in Monmouth. In the 1851 census James gives his birthplace as Ross, Herefordsire.
Regarding the 1804 baptism, I had already considered that but had rejected it because of the mother being Elizabeth rather than Mary.

Can you please identify this family in 1851 census......names and ages, birthplaces......

Is Hertfordshire ....or......Herefordshire.....the relevant counties?
