Hi all, I'm hoping someone might be able unravel a little puzzle.
I have an NZ marriage cert, attached, for a Lily, or Lillie, Gray, nee Conanland.
Her parents are down as Sanuel Conanland, and Bridget Conanland, nee Hoolohan'
There is no religion or area, Samuel was a publican.
Lily was widowed on 08/10/1882 in Auckland, NZ. Born about 1857/8 unknown location.

No marriage record in NZ or death record for a husband.

You'll need to find something relating to her marriage or the death of her first husband to figure what her surname is, Conanland doesn't seem to exist anywhere.
I've tried all sorts of combinations and sites and got zero results for that name.
Maybe her parent's are in New Zealand as well.

Houlihan or Hoolahan is straight forward but the other...………... I'd guess it ends in lan or han or I could be way off.
I've looked at so many possible names now I can't settle to one idea.

It could be something as simple as Conlon / Connolly misheard Colahan even ?

Surely the place to start is to determine the name of her first husband. Death certificate for him?

Yep, if I could find him, no results on NZ BDMs and NSW and Vic. Just the date. Nothing in Papers Past under that name / date.
