George Drake

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to find Bodmin Gaol records. I'm looking in to my 5x Gt Uncle George Drake who was jailed in 1834 for beastility on a mare (oh the shame). I have his jail record on Ancestry but wondered if there would be a more detailed record somewhere as I know he tried to break out of jail. George's sister Jane (my 5x Gt Grandmother) was also in Bodmin Gaol in 1838 for 'wandering and lodging in the open air and not giving a good account of herself'' so would be interested to see if there is any records of her being there too. Thank you.

the archive for Cornwall is closed at this time, but they do hold cds of Prisoners in Cornwall County Gaol at Bodmin. Volume 1 covers 1834, volume 2 1838. Might be worth a try when they reopen
