18 Year old Girl sent to prison in 1888 ....What prison would she be sent to ?

Can anyone please help?

A court in Cardiff sent Mary Jane Barkley to jail in July  1888.

She had been awaiting trial in jail since 6th April.

In the newspaper report she is said to be 18 in fact she was 16

Where would she have been imprisoned ? What Prison did women in South Wales get sent to ?

In the column marked "Sentence or Order of the Court" it reads "1 Calendar Month, Cardiff Prison"

Forgot to add - was the newspaper report the "South Wales Daily News, 6 Jul 1888"?
