Banking scam

Just been talking to one of the nurses at our GP’s practice.  She told me that a couple of “at risk” patients had received calls from an 0800 number - supposedly a bank.

They were offering to deliver money “at this difficult time”. - no guessing at what came next re bank details etc!!

Worrying thing is - it was only people identified as “at risk” who had received letters from either GP/Consultant or NHS texts to their mobiles.

And people think downloading a Tracing App will be safe!

These criminals never miss a trick.
How would anyone know that only "at risk" people receive this though? Most of us just delete or ignore such stuff.

I have received an "at risk letter" plus 2 texts from the NHS Coronavirus service with advice etc but no scam call to either my landline or mobile. 

Friend in Cheshire has just told me that a neighbour received one of these calls on her landline but gave the caller a "mouthful"

Why, what will they do about them?. Very little I reckon.

This was from the Martin Lewis show this week,they have taken lots of scam websites (400 of them) down already.

The National Cyber Security Centre (part of GCHQ – the Government's cyber and security agency) has launched a suspicious email reporting service to take phishing scams down – all you have to do is forward suspicious emails to its report (AT) phishing.gov.uk email address.

Once you've reported a suspicious email, the NCSC will analyse it and any websites it links to. If it believes it's malicious, NCSC may:

Seek to block the address the email came from, so it can no longer send emails.
Work with hosting companies to remove links to malicious websites.
Raise awareness of commonly reported suspicious emails and methods used.
While the NCSC is unable to inform you of the outcome of its review, it has assured us that it acts upon every message received – as an example, within the first week, the new service received over 25,000 reports and, as a direct result, it has already removed over 400 phishing campaigns.
