Blacker's Row Clandown 1871
« on: Tuesday 12 May 20 18:05 BST (UK) »
I have Henry Gane Rogers living in Blacker's Row in 1871. He had recently set up in business there as a coachbuilder/ waggonwright.
I cannot find any reference to Blacker's Row before or since.
Has anyone any further thoughts or info please?

Page 1 of the census folio should have a description of the enumerator's route.
Have you tried following that?

KGarrad  Little information shown re enumerators route
Kay99. Found it in area 6b not 6a. Map helpful ;)

I think I have now identified it, but it does seem to have changed names over the years.

I did wonder if Blacker's Row was renamed White Hart Row? Blacker's Row appears 1871, 1881 but disappears in 1891 when White Hart Row appears.
I'd been intending to check residents Blacker's Row 1881 against residents White Hart Row 1891 - but insufficient time (allotment duties call)..

That thought was in my mind also ie White Hart for Blackers. Unfortunately access to the local Museum records is not available at present.
Thanks
