Houghtons in Little Hallingbury

William Houghton was buried in BS in 1755 not LH. How do you know he has a connection to LH?

Years ago we found a record for William's daughter marrying Robert Gosling and they lived at Hassobury Hall at the top of the paper it said Little Hallingbury (at some point Bishop Stortford was registration district for Little Hallingbury). Thomas and his family lived there but went to BS to register BMDs

Civil registration began in England / Wales on 1 July 1837, Thomas was long dead by then so wouldn't have gone to BS to register any BMD.

The only marriage in the right sort of time period is in Clapham London/Surrey in 1763. Elizabeth is a minor and of the parish of Clapham, Robert is of the parish of St Clement Dane's. Both signed. Five witnesses - all male, none with surname Houghton or Gosling. Marriage by licence with consent of guardians. As only Elizabeth is recorded as a minor, it presumably means her guardians. (This has been added and not one of the books with preprinted "with consent of .." statement). As it says guardians rather than father / mother / parents it looks like she was an orphan by the time of her marriage.
I don't see how this connects her with Little Hallingbury or the William who died in BS.
