Percy Rowles was born on Thursday, 18th April 1895 at No. 3 Chapel Street, Batley Carr, Yorkshire, the son of William Henry and Ann Rowles (née Begg), a ‘Woollen Spinner’.

In the 1911 census he is age 15 and his occupation is ‘Woollen Cloth Finisher’.
He is living with his parents at 3 Chapel Street, Batley Carr, Batley, Yorkshire.

He enlisted in the Royal Field Artillery on the 15th February 1916 at Newcastle upon Tyne.
He gave his occupation as a ‘Cloth Fuller’, and his address as 3 Chapel Street, Batley Carr.
He was finally discharged on the 5th March 1919.

He married Lizzie Atkins in 1922 at Batley Carr. They had 1 daughter.
Lizzie died in 1978 at Batley Carr, age 83.

In the ‘1939 Register’ he is living at 50 Lady Anne Road, Batley, Yorkshire.
His occupation is given as ‘Textile Cloth Fuller’.

He died in 1978 at Batley Carr, age 83.
