Helen McHale parents Brickwall
« on: Tuesday 19 May 20 19:39 BST (UK) »
Good evening,

I'm looking for info on a Helen McHale.
Born 12th December 1927 possibly Mayo Ireland but this is not 100%

She married a Robert Hall in 1959 in Leeds Yorkshire.

She died 11th May 1996 in Dewsbury Yorkshire.

Any help much appreciated, thank you.

Lisa

Do you have her marriage cert which should show her fathers name?

There were 2 children born to the marriage in 1960 and 1963.  Are they not able to provide any info?

Since the birth was less than 100 years old the certificate will not be online but Family Search does have an Irish Civil Registration Index which goes up to 1958. The site isn't working well for me at the moment but I did see quite a few possibilities for Helen/Ellen McHale born 1920s in Ireland.
https://www.familysearch.org/search/ (registration is free)
Note: the above site would cover births in Ireland after 1921.If she was born in Northern Ireland then GRONI will keep the records and they will not appear in their online database so you'd have to order the birth certificate from them.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Unfortunately not due to illness.

I don't, I'm doing this search on behalf of someone related to the family.

Thanks for your replies, I will have to try the GRONI as I've searched the usual sites and can't find anything.

There are LOTS of possibilities in the FS index- several, from memory were in Co. Mayo around 1927. At least one shows mother's name as McHale which means either both parents had same surname or child was illegitimate (if the latter then the marriage certificate may or may not list father's name and occupation). Don't forget that Ellen is the more common form of Ellen in Ireland.
GRONI, when it reopens, is less likely to have the birth record than GRON (Ireland).
