The attached shows Albert Victor Divall was re-engaged for section D in 1926, was award the British war medal and discharged in 1934 - para 937 rank VR (VIII).

What was section D and para 937 rank VR (VIII)?

Section D was a reserve category that a man who had already completed their (usually) 5 years on section B reserve after full time service could elect to carry on in D for another 4 years.  They received a small amount of pay and were liable to recall during that time.  It seems he did two periods of Section D

Para 497 was the paragraph of Kings regulations that governed his discharge.

His British War medal comes from his war service   He seems to have been 46716 Gunner Divall of the Royal garrison Artillery.  The British War medal only (ie no Victory medal) indicates he served overseas but not in a war theatre (India is the prime example)
