Dreadnought boy

A grandson of a cousin of my Great Grandfather was a emigrant under the Dreadnought Scheme in 1924, his name was Leslie Alexander Barrett age 15, wonder what happened to him.

If you have access to Ancestry there are a few tree's on there
He married Mia Phyliss Milligan 1935 Sydney New South Wales
His Military Service Records gives his date of birth as 28/8/1908 London
He enlisted Paddington NSW 1940
His occupation was textile worker his records can be viewed on Fold 3 which Is free this weekend on Ancestry
He died 8 September 1979 Sydney N S W

rosie17, I am unable to get on Ancestry for free to see his military records without paying nearly £20 which is a bit much for one record, just want to know where he served in his time in the army.

Leslie Alexander did not have the best start in life nor did his mother who was one of 3 daughters, one who died in her 1st year and her and her sister being brought up in Brixham Orphanage in London. It is good to now know he had a better life when in Australia and survived WW2. His wife having a maiden name Milligan makes me wonder if she had been from a Irish family that had also emigrated in the 18/1900's after the potato famine.
