Hi Andrew

Hope you're OK.

Don't bother any more with the BELLs thanks.

Let's try some HENDERSONs
Alexander and Esther HENDERSON had some children baptised in Kent (Scots Church) 1805-1810 and two in Whitehaven-
Betsy 22 Aug 1819 Holy Trinity
Sarah 11 Jan 1818 Scotch St Presb

Is it possible to get Alexander's occupation?

Esther (60) was living in Charles St in 1841 with son Ephraim.  In 1851 (a cripple) he was with his sister so I assume Esther had died - can you find a burial for her please?

Esther HENDERSON (Jnr) had married Robert NESBITT at W/H HT on 13 March 1833 ... I think she was young; could you check her age and any other info for the marriage?

Robert NESBITT died in 1845 - his death was recorded in the Cumberland Pacquet although he was only a labourer ... just a thought - would the deaths of Alexander and Esther HENDERSON have appeared in the newspaper too?  I assume Alexander was before 1841.

Sometime between the death of Robert NESBITT and the 1851 census, Esther (Jnr) may have married Daniel LANDY/LUNDY and they had a 2 year old daughter in 1851.  She lived in Charles St with both husbands, so that should give you a parish (unless she married Presb).

Daniel and Esther LUNDY/LANDY seem to disappear by 1861 and the crippled Ephraim HENDERSON lived in the workhouse until his death in Q1 1875.

I'd be grateful for anything you can find on any of these people.

Thanks

Geoff

Hi, me again

I don't know if Whitehaven Office has any Maryport stuff ...

An ancestor of mine was William SCOTT; he was a mariner which (hopefully) explains why he missed the 1861 census, but his wife and family were in Furnace Rd, Maryport.  By 1871 his wife was widowed and in Senhouse St, Maryport and I have no reason to think they ever left the town.  The GRO death index has William SCOTTs in the Cockermouth district in Q4 1861 and Q1 1864 ... he would have been 50ish ... can you find his burial please?

Not sure if you are still offering your services for Whitehaven, but if you are could you please look up a John Nicholson for me he was born around 1891 in Egremont, Cumberland.  I would really love to know his parents names.

Also if you have had time to look to see if Peter Doyle was in the graveyard, died 1856.

Many thanks, hope you are keeping well

Hi Andrew.

Wow you are an amazing person doing all this for other people - very kind.

I'm not sure if this is possible as I have no idea how big the Whitehaven cemetary is but I am researching Dixons from the Workington /Whitehaven area.  Am interested in Thomas Dixon - born abt 1850's and died around 1902. Some kids registered under Whitehaven and some at Cockermouth - so not totally sure if he's there.  Daughter Hannah Elizabeth Dixon and son John Thomas Dixon (moved to NZ).

Thanks Elaine Dixon

My dearest Anndra!

It's such a pleasure to 'read' you and I do love me some Cumbrian dialect! Thank you so much! I understand that you have been very busy down the road. Hmmm... 'oxters' might make me blush? ;)

I'm sorry that your mother is not so good. It's gonna take me a day or so to decipher the rest of your message... 'splether' and 'hunch-beean' are Greek to me. :)

Happily confuddled and thrilled with your attention,
Donna
