Mysterious address
« on: Friday 05 June 20 14:33 BST (UK) »
On a birth certificate issued in 1851 the place of birth and the residence of the child and mother is given as (quite clearly) "Canal Wycombe".

The registration district is Wycombe and the Registrar's district is High Wycombe.

Can anyone shed any light on this address ?

There are quite a lot of families living in Canal Side but I don't see it on the map

Try  1851 census

Nearest that I can find on a modern map is

https://goo.gl/maps/c16geFwiEzMonJh96

It could be the water course named The Dyke which runs into the river.
