Yourston / Yorston
« on: Wednesday 10 June 20 16:03 BST (UK) »
According to an online tree Robert Yorston  was baptised in July 1806 Kirkwall and St Ola,Orkney,Scotland, he was the son of William Yorston  and Christian Firth.
As I can`t find him , I can`t confirm that.

Robert Yourston  , joiner  married Mary McGinnis in 1830  at St Peter, Liverpool, Mary was a widow  (nee YOUNGHUSBAND)

Their daughter Mary Yorston was baptised in 1835  at St Peter,  Bolton le Moors, the parents  were  Robert Youston a joiner and Mary his wife.
By 1841  Mary and three children were together in Bolton.  Robert is missing.
Mary Yourston    30
Robert Yourston 10
Mary Yourston    6
William Yourston 3 1838 mmn Younghusband

Mary Yourston aged 42   was buried on 18 October 1843 in Liverpool.
 Her husband was Robert.
The children Mary and Robert are not found in 1851, but they are around somewhere as they later married,  and gave fathers name as Robert  a joiner
The youngest son William was in the Blue Coat School in Liverpool  in 1851.

My questions  are can anyone find Mary and Robert b Bolton  in 1851.
Was the Blue Coat School for poor children at that time.
Can anyone find Robert the joiner.

Thanks.

He was buried as Younston on 14.6.1841 so should be on the 1841 census which was taken on 6th June.  Address shown on burial record is just “Infirmary”

Is he the one in St Mary's,  born 1797, found the entry on FindMyPast, but I don't subscribe to that.
He's perhaps hiding in his hospital bed in April, I can't spot him.
Can't find Mary's burial though.

Thanks

“Can’t find Mary’s burial though”

Your reply above says “ Mary Yourston aged 42 was buried in Liverpool on 18.10.1843“

Just found the entry - Mary died 13.10.1843 buried 18.10.1843 - shown as married.  Husband Robert which suggests Robert was still alive in 1843

When Robert Jnr marries on the 24th May 1854 his occupation is recorded as "Mariner". Could he be at sea for the 1851 census?

Scotlandspeople record 3 Robert Yorston births for 1796 Firth & Stenness,/1798 Yester/1799 Kirkwell, roughly matching the 1841 death.

We have no census evidence of Robert Snrs age or where he was born and as we all know trees on Anc* can be incorrect/misleading. Strange we cannot find him on 1841 or any census after this date. The Robert on the tree can be traced as being married to someone else on census and living in Scotland.
