John Bryan or Bryant
« on: Wednesday 10 June 20 20:08 BST (UK) »
Hi

I'm hoping someone here will be able to help me locate a christening for a man named John Bryan or Bryant [also spelt Briant] possibly in the Molash or Boughton under Blean area of Kent possiblhy in the 1640s or 1650s.

All I know about John is that he was married two times. He was married first to a woman named Mary by whom he had three children who were all born in Boughton under Blean. These were

Martha - born January 1670/71 at Molash

Elizabeth - born April 1675 at Hernhill

Mary - born December 1680 at Molash

Mary [wife of John] died in Boughton under Blean in February 1686/87 and in June 1688 John married his second wife Isabell [or Isabella] Cooke by whom he had one daughter named Isabell Bryant who was born in Molash in January 1688/89.

John died in September 1689 and was buried on 18 September 1689.

Also if anyone can identify a possible first marriage for him I would be very grateful.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Many Thanks
Matt

Thanks again for that info. It looks like this is probably my man. I've found two sisters for him, one named Frances and one named Mary but no other brothers.

Do you have any idea when/where James and Mary/Marie married?

Once again many thanks

Matt

The youngest daughter I've found for James and Mary is Frances Domitilla Bryan christened in May 1666. I found that to be an unusual name and I wonder if Domitilla was her mother's name or possibily maiden name.

There is a tree online showing the second marriage to Isobel Cooke whose daughter Isobella  married, and had two children. Regards,
