Purely for information, despite what year/date of birth might be stated in subsequent records, Michael James Kennedy was registered as born at Monivea on 16 April 1887 - not 1888 (see link below):

Can you post a link to the record? Or post all the information on the record. Did it say what battalion, etc. that Michael was with, etc.?

It might be a US Civil war pension, which would eliminate your Michael. I don't know if the US had pensions for WWI soldiers.

Thanks you but it wasnt a right match. Got their marriage cert and all details were correct except for his fathers name  I thought I hit the Jack pot. I think poor Michael is going to remain a mystery

It was Michael j Kennedy from Ireland 1888 married Anna mcgloin in Manhattan newyork on 3rd of June 1917. But the fathers name didnt match my Michael.
