There is a Reinhold, a Richard and a Rudolf Eggeling as POW

Thanks for that Svenja,
Would he be another nationality other than German??
Given that the years on the Plaque Would that be the duration of his imprisonment or the time the camp was open??

https://grandeguerre.icrc.org/en/File/Search, this site you gave me is hard to navigate the forum would be useful but its only in German

Kind regards
Cathal

not sure if its a common name or not I would think that there is good German records, there are a few in the IRC records and this site below  I have to check. not all the sites are easily to translate to English

http://des.genealogy.net/eingabe-verlustlisten/search
would be nice to find out what happened to him

Hi

In my first answer I already mentionned the information gathered from the lists of losses (Verlustlisten) and the IRC Lists.

There are at least three or four persons named R. Eggeling who were prisonners of war. But it looks like only one of them was in Damaskus.

What information is on this Plakette you mentionned? Is there his military unit or the name of the POW camp mentionned?

Regards
Svenja
