Anyone Fancy a Challenge? A W Coleman - Brooklyn/Stockport
« on: Sunday 28 June 20 11:17 BST (UK) »
1) I have an address - 24 Himlock Street, Brooklyn 8, New York - I suspect it's actually "Hemlock" and we're probably talking about the 1940s.

2) I have a name - Mr A W Coleman - possibly "Alec" or "Alex" and he would have been born around 1915; give or take 5 years or so - so he's likely no longer with us.

3) He served as a GI in Stockport, UK, during WW2 and allegedly lived with his mother in New York.

That's about it. Can anyone find him? Over to the sleuths!

Have you checked the US censuses? I could not find him on the 1940 in Brooklyn.  Also could not find his on the US Social Security Death Index.

Yes, same here; I couldn't even track down Hi(e)mlock Street on the 1940 so I thought I'd ask the experts!

These Colemans were “Kulman” in earlier and later records.

Alex Kulman’s WWII draft card showed no middle initial. Born Brooklyn 24 Oct 1914. Next of kin was mother Rose of 3091 Bt. 5 St, Brooklyn. This was also Alex’s address, later amended to 176 Seeley St.

He may well be a red herring.
