Desperately trying to find the parents of Alfred Thomas Thelwell, born 6 Dec 1918 in Ellemere..  Any help would be wonderful.

thanks for the reply, this is all I have been able to find, I know that both his parents wee named Thelwell, I believe cousin married cousin, but there are a number of Thelwell/Thelwell marriages. So looks like his birth cert is the best option, once everything is opened up again.

Freebmd only lists 3 Thelwell/Thelwell marriages before 1919 -- 1843, 1858 & 1906.

There are quite a few births Thelwell with mmn Thelwell but probably mostly illegitimate

Did he have siblings ? three other Thelwell/Thelwell births in Ellesmere 1922 1926 1930

Have you checked 1939 register?  Could he be with parents or siblings ?

I think the 1906 marriage might be too early. The Thelwell-Thewell births in Ellesmere run from 1918 to 1930

I have found one of Alfred's potential siblings on 1939, I assume with his grandmother. I have followed her children and can't find a potential amongst her offspring to be the parent. The girls either marry during the period of the births, or are too young in 1918, so aren't the mother (unless more than one of them is). The boys don't marry a Thelwell

1939 Register shows him working on a farm so that didn't help lol.  I don't know if he had any siblings.   Who was is "potential" grandmother that is mentioned

Same thoughts as you Mabel... I had looked for Thelwell/Thelwell births in Ellesmere after Alfred’s 1918 on FreeBMD did not post names as not checked if they were deceased, although there was a possible death entry for Sidney But in Lancashire
