Hello all I need help figuring out what this birthplace is its transcribed as walley camp surth the comy in 1861 census its for George Windle living in Battersea if anyone wants to see original. Thank you

I think it reads 'with the county'  :-\

I think it is Walley Camp and then someone has added 'with the Army'.

The nearest that I can think of for Walley camp is Whalley in Lancashire. I'm not sure about a camp but I know it's in Pendle witches country, It's a long way from Battersea though so don't think it is that    :-\

Add - shanreagh - yes -  it could well be army rather than county - same form of letters  :)

As it is a record from a census he could be living in Battersea now  but born elsewhere in the UK.

Yes, definitely ... with the Army.
Maybe it should be Warley Camp (barracks in Essex) ?
