William Dunning - which baptism is his? (1700s)
« on: Wednesday 22 July 20 20:48 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the baptism of William Dunning who married in 1774 to Ann Wilkinson in Brompton by Northallerton.

Their children: William 1775, James 1776 and Elizabeth 1779 (although there maybe more)

There are two baptisms from that area that fit:

William Dunning, 23 Feb 1749, Leake Yorkshire
Father William Dunning

William Dunning, 27 Oct 1751, Kirby Sigston Yorkshire
Father William Dunning

But I only have one possible marriage
William Dunning and Rosemond Kilton, 1 Feb 1748 Appleton Wiske

Can anyone else find another possible marriage, as I believe William and Rosamond's children were all born in Leake and not Kirby Sigston

That's fantastic, thanks! Since it's stated that William was of Kirby Sigston, I'm leaning towards the second baptism that I listed above being his. Now just to find his parents' marriage.

William Dunning (1751-1811) married to Ann Wilkinson(1751-1806), husbandman, Foxton in the parish of Kirby Winston, near Northallerton, North Yorkshire. Children: William (1775- )  James (1776-)  John(1786- ) Sarah( 1788-1858) Big gap in years in middle? I haven't found Elizabeth yet. Sarah married Barnabas Cansfield of Brompton near Northallerton and moved to Sunderland, County Durham (as was) I have a copy of William's will from the National Archives. The family seemed quite comfortable with property and goods to bequeath including napkins embroidered AW! Part of Ann Wilkinson's dowry?  Hope this helps a little.
