Ancestry of Thomas Kitchen 1828-1901.
« on: Sunday 02 August 20 08:44 BST (UK) »
I am trying to go back further for Thomas Kitchen 1828-1901 who married Mary Ann Van Alstein Kitchen 1839-1928.
On some tree is has Thomas's birth year down as 1832.
His parents are given as Moses Kitchen and Ann Amelia Drake.
I would be grateful if someone could confirm this please, and also take his line further back.

Why are you asking in the USA when he was born in Canada ?  Birthdate for that time frame can vary by a few years.

Find a Grave
Mount Pleasant Cemetery Wales, St Clair Michigan
small marble plaque Thomas Kitchen 1832-1902
bio has children Wesley, Lodema, Lophelia

The graves stones look very clean perhaps placed there some time after his death, all the children mentioned are his children

Death Certificate (transcription)

Father Moses Kitchen, mother Ann Drake

Based on the death certificate the larger stone is 1 year off.

1880 census he was born Canada, parents both born New Jersey

ADDED
perhaps that was supposed to be a Y(1880)  1900 census parents born New York

Sandra

Perhaps my mistake, but I took into account the following.

The Tree Manager who is doing the deceased, has a Thomas Kitchen 1799-1868 and Ann Drake 1807-1872 as confirmed and sourced on the Tree.
This to me this was just to similar to what has been coming up on Family Search.
So I thought he might have actually come from American parentage.
Ann's sister Mary 1806-1862 married Henry B. Kitchen 1797-1883.
However I cannot account for her third sister Sarah Drake 1803-.

Someone has a Sarah Drake born 1803 Hamilton Wentworth Ontario  married to a Moses Kitchen born 1799 New Jersey.  Sadly this Sarah Drake/Kitchen died in 1833
Moses remarried to a Hannah Hudson - they were in Caradoc Canada in 1851

Wentworth Ontario Canada
Lemuel Kitchen born 22 January 1852 New Jersey
Died 25 June 1935 Ontario

Parents Thomas Kitchen born England, Ann Drake born Ontario!!!

If you can find the marriage of Thomas Kitchen to Mary Ann Van Alstein circa 1856 we might get the correct parents names.
