How to find which Church for a marriage registered Huddersfield.
« on: Monday 10 August 20 07:33 BST (UK) »
    Robert S Skelton
Registration Date
    10/1934
Registration Quarter
    Oct-Nov-Dec
Registration district
    Huddersfield
Inferred County
    Yorkshire West Riding
Spouse
    Muriel Taylor
Volume Number
    9a
Page number
    773
It just says Huddersfield District but is it possible to find out which Church without sending for marriage cert? Trying to find more on Muriel.
1939 Register she says that her birth date was 17 Feb 1914 but I cannot find any birth to match that date range anywhere. Once I have located her birth I can send for certificate which takes me safely back along this line.
I once had a record of Church marriages but cannot find the link now. Must get more organised.
As  always, any help gratefully received.
Regards,
Josie.

YorkshireBMD doesn't have the Huddersfield District, and looking at the fairly high page number (773) I would hazard a guess at "Register Office or Registrar Attended" for the location.  Sorry  :(

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
If you don't ask the question, you won't get an answer.

It may have been in a nonconformist church or Register Office, so wouldn't show on the Marriage Locator.

Is this it - remember they didn't celebrate birthdays like today so may easy be a bit confused about year or did someone else give the details for 1939 register. Do you have mother's maiden name? I have found one for 1915.

I have found a number of entries in the 1939 Register where the the dates are otherwise correct but the year is off by one year, so it’s highly likely that the birth medpat has found is the right one.
