Hi Jennirosa

Do you know if he married?  Found his father on the 1891 but nothing else so far.

Hi Fiona! :
Sorry, but I don't know anymore about him?
Beginning to think something must have happened to him, unless he moved away from York or went overseas?

4 of his brothers and 1 sister came to Australia....But he was never mentioned by anyone ?? I can't find any evidence of him living in Australia.

I also think one of his sisters Mary Ann Bond Born in York 1872 died in 1882, as there is no mention of her on 1891 Census and there is a Death in York 1882 for a Mary Ann Bond age 9 (Ref. 9d 4).
Thanks for your help, but you may not be able to find him either!

Jenni

But I Can't find any for James Henry Bond?

Hi Jenni

Have had another good look but as yet can find nothing  :(
You said that on the 1881 census he was listed as a fireman, could he have been killed attending a fire maybe ?  I wonder if there's anyway to find out

Hi Fiona!
Re James Henry Bond  Born 1860....Fireman, York 1881 census.

I've put a Post in "Common Room" for Fireman in York c.1881 employment records!
I don't know if it's the right place, but I'll give it a go and see I anyone has any ideas on how to find him. I can't find a death for him between 1881 and 1901.

Hi Jenni

I'm not trying to confuse the issue but do you know if James Henry Bond was a fireman who put out fires or was he a fireman on the railway, the person who stoked the fire on a steam engine.   Just a thought as York did have a large population of railway workers.

Hi Bee!

Maybe he was a Railway Fireman!.. The Census just had Fireman, so I assumed it was the Fire Brigade!

One of his younger brothers John William Bond was a "Railway Engine Driver" on the 1901 Census!

Did they have a list of Yorkshire Strays for the 1901 Census? Would he be on that? He's not on  the 1901 Census in York!
Can you help?? with this one or do I go back to Lookups!

Thanks for your help, appreciated very much! These Bonds of mine are hard to find!

Sorry Jenni, I can't really help you any further, it just struck me that with York being a big railway centre he might have been a railway fireman.

I vaguely remember somewhere on rootschat there was a thread about tracing people through the railway companies, I think you'll have to try another look up.

good luck
