The wife has unearthed a family photo from 1944. It states :-

"Authority.
9th Army 461/841/G.S.I(b)
Dated 17th Feb 44"

Can I take it that the military experts will know what the above relates to?

Bit odd.  It is referring to some sort of authority for something granted by an office in Headquarters 9th Army (Palestine and Transjordan) , it is difficult to imagine how it relates to a family photo?

GSI(B) was General Staff Intelligence Branch's security section. They were involved in counter-intelligence.

Can't really imagine why a group photo should need an HQ 9th Army stamp!

Are they 3rd Queen's Own Hussars?
