So many gaps - we'll need to do this in chunks!

March 1926 - HMS Carlisle and HMS Foxtrot involved in the "Taku Incident".

"Foxtrot" should perhaps be Foxglove

So thanks to Shaun I have worked out all the dates  under "period of service" and the names of ships and places of service. Obviously I would like to read all of the document but as you have guessed this is not my forte.
So can anyone tell me the headings in columns 3 and 4 ie between Ships and Rating?  I am trying to work out how important this information is in building a picture of Joseph's service.  I would also like to try and work out the last four columns if possible.  I know the middle heading under character & ability reads date and the last column reads remarks but what are the headings of the other two under character and ability.  Hopefully someone is more familiar with Navy Records than I am.

Thanks again

Hi,

In other examples I found online, the 2 columns are headed "List" and "No." (in the ship's books).

EDIT: On another record I found online, the other 2 columns you mention are "C" and "A". I'm afraid I have no idea what these stand for. Let's hope an expert comes along...  :)

Best regards,
Karen
