Photo of uniform query
« on: Tuesday 18 August 20 17:53 BST (UK) »
Can anyone please tell me anything from the uniform who my Uncle might have been serving with - and possibly where.

I've found two Royal Artillery tracer cards with his name but two different army numbers, so not sure if this is a lead or not.

Thanks so much!

It's very difficult to tell from the angle, but the cap badge looks circular with something (maybe a crown?) at the top.  I think the RA cap badge viewed at the same angle would appear more triangular.

There is nothing to indicate where he is other than he's somewhere in a hot climate.

What's the inscription at bottom right? Name of the studio?

You can apply for a copy of his army records. You'll need his date of birth and a death certificate, but you don't need to know his unit or service number.

Thank you all for your help.

The inscription is embossed but only partial so I can't read and looks as though it would be the studio.

I will apply for his service papers.  I didn't realise I could still get them without knowing his unit or service No. so this is good news.

Thanks again.

Definitely not Royal Artillery but as you've learned, no need to know that one way or another!  Good luck!
