Are my two Sarah Fairfield’s connected somehow?
« on: Friday 21 August 20 10:36 BST (UK) »
As I was looking through my family tree this morning, trying to tie up loose ends ect., I noticed that I have two female ancestors with very similar details:

1. Sarah Fairfield was born about 1775 and was the wife of James Thompson Sr. They were married on 12 December 1796 at Tamworth, witnesses were Catherine Green and Thomas Jones. Sarah died in 1818 and was buried at Tamworth. Her daughter in law was Ann Fairfield, daughter of the lady mentioned below.

2. Sarah Fairfield was born about 1777 and married Job Fairfield on 14 October 1799 in Kingsbury. Her daughter Ann was the daughter in law of the above Sarah Fairfield. She died in 1846 in Wilnecote and was buried at Tamworth, St Editha.

It’s all very confusing to me because both Sarah’s have very similar date of births and lived in the same area.

I would really love some help working out if there is a family connection between the two women (besides marriage).

There is a baptism at St Editha in Tamworth - 7 December 1777

Sarah, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Fairfield of Wilne(cote)

And another at St Editha - 4 April 1779

Sarah, daughter of Job and Mary Fairfield of Two Gates

Thank you ColC and Bumble! I’ve just checked the burial record for Sarah Fairfield (wife of Job) and her age at burial puts her DOB as about 1773. There aren’t any earlier baptisms so I’d say the 1775 Grendon baptism could be hers?

Sarah, daughter of Job and Mary Fairfield of Two Gates

I think this Sarah might have been the  of Job Fairfield who married Sarah in 1799. Although I haven’t found Job’s baptism yet, family trees online have his parents as Job and Mary.

I think Jimnix post looks likely, below for information.

Elizabeth WARD Thomas FAIRFIELD   Marriage   21 Sep 1772 Staffordshire   Tamworth : St Editha : Parish Register

Thomas Fearfield Baptism 25 Dec 1752
Tamworth, Staffordshire Father: Job Fearfield

Of Mancetter   John Fairfield
Spouse   Jane Jarvis
Marriage   29/01/1758 Warwickshire Grendon

Name   John Fairfield
Baptism   28/10/1730 Mancetter,Warwick
Parents noted as Mic & Mar but Michael & Mary on his sister Ann 1736.

There was a Thomas born there 1747 but different parents, seems unlikely

I’m pleased you agree ColC. I’ve found the burial for Elizabeth Fairfield nee Ward...

26 December 1804, Tamworth St Editha
Elizabeth Fairfield
Wife of Thomas of Wilnecote

No burial for Thomas Fairfield yet. There seems to have been a Thomas and Elizabeth Fairfield of Two Gates baptising their children from the 1780s, not sure if this is the same couple.

Can anyone see any possible burials for Thomas Fairfield? ColC has found the 1752 baptism, making him the son of Job Fairfield. His wife Elizabeth died in 1804 and she is described as “wife” rather than widow so I’m assuming he was still alive by then.
