Harris Placename
« on: Saturday 22 August 20 16:57 BST (UK) »
This is from an 1875 marriage at Stein in Waternish both were from there and both lived on Harris.  She was the schoolmistress on Scarp and he a merchant at the attached which I cannot find.  I would assume it would be close to Scarp but it appears not.

Thanks,

Don

Carragrich. See https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=16&lat=57.88666&lon=-6.73791&layers=5&b=1 - you may need to zoom in.

Also http://www.geograph.org.uk/gridref/NG1998 with a spelling compatible with the rules of Gaelic orthography.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
