Long lost cousin
« on: Monday 31 August 20 19:19 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the 1st cousin of my grandfather. I know he was born 3rd Feb 1944 at Bickley, Cheshire. The story is he was a bad lad and was sent away. I realise I cant post the full info here as he may well still be living.
With no middle name and a relatively common surname for the area, it is proving difficult to get past his birth!

His father George Frederick Owen 1909-1955. Mother Mary Bradford Dodson 1915-2006 (remarried to Sean J McKeown in 1957 Cheshire. He was alive 1931 - 2009, both died in Kent).

Can anyone help?

Have you tried the 2002-2020 Electoral Registers on Find My Past.

In later years people could opt not to be included on the public list -- but around 2002 I don't think that was the case. I realise though that he could be anywhere in the country.

The only other thing I can think of is newspaper reports BUT there aren't many on line for so recent a date when he 'disappeared'. (This is in case he was arrested or something!)

Marriage records? Again depends on his name and how common it was.

Put a plea in the local paper saying you want to get in touch - does anyone know his whereabouts.

It proving to be far too common a name to know for sure if its him on the records youve mentioned. The papers may be useful though!

There were multiple marriages per year every year around the time he liekly married (if he did).

So sorry, Tom -- I can't think of anything else at the moment - might he have emigrated I wonder.

Tom, your long lost cousin had 2 brothers, they must be cousins as well. Have you tried following them?
