New to Roots Magic...

I'm a long time user of Family Tree Maker and want to upgrade but I just can't bring myself to pay the eye-watering amount demanded for the latest version!
Accordingly, I've downloaded the free version of RootsMagic to try and have a couple of questions.
First, is it worth paying for an upgrade and, if so, what makes it worthwhile?
A key feature with Family Tree Maker for me was the ability to synch the tree on the computer with my ancestry tree. I know I can download my ancestry tree but can Roots Magic automatically synch changes with the online tree?

Having looked around a little, I feel the answer to my second question should be "yes" that I can synch changes.
However,  when I add media to a person on the Roots Magic tree and ask it to synch with ancestry it doesn't want to synch the picture, and doesn't show the person has changed. Any hints?

I would thoroughly recommend the Facebook group "RootsMagic Users".
Some of the people on there are RootsMagic people - developers and the like!

And they are very friendly ;D

P.S. I don't sync my RootsMagic trees to Ancestry, so I'm not the best person to answer your question :D

There is a Roots Magic forum you will benefit from using.

Personally I would not sync to Ancestry, just keep two systems going.

BTW
The paid for Roots Magic has a mobile USB version included.

Thank you Biggles. Pleased I found this thread - I too replaced FTM with Rootsmagic a year or so ago. I do not have a FB account so the forum should be useful.

The spammers were able to get into the site and almost ruin it for the users so the admin turned off the signup. You can send an email to supportatrootsmagic.com and get yourself added to the forums.
