Missing Millers
« on: Sunday 06 September 20 21:01 BST (UK) »
Looking for a branch of my extended family who seem to vanish - the fairly common surname doesn't help

Parents
James Walter MIller b c1858 Reading
Annie Louisa (nee Coles)   b 1865 Paddington

Children (all b Battersea)
Elizabeth Ann Miller 1886-
Alice Rose Miller 1887–
James Walter Miller 1888–1891
Albert Charles Miller 1889-
Florence Emily Miller 1892–1893
Thomas Henry Miller 1893–
Edward William Miller 1895–

Elizabeth is the only one I can find after 1895. She's with her paternal grandmother in Brighton on 1901

Given they all seem to vanish I suspect emigration, but can't find an obvious trail.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Are either of these yours? :-\
London School Admissions
Latchmere School (Battersea?)
Alice Miller, born 28.1.87, father James, 41 Blondell Street
admitted 1.7.95, left 23.9.95

New Road School, Wandsworth
Albt Miller, born 12 Nov 1889, father Jas, 49 Stockdale Road
admitted 29.9.96, from Lavender Hill Board School
If that's the right Albert it would at least move you on a year!

James Walter MIller b c1858 Reading

The only likely birth reg has no middle name
MILLER, JAMES
Mother's Maiden Surname: SIMS
GRO Reference: 1858  S Quarter in READING  Volume 02C  Page 31

Jane Sims married Thomas Miller, 24 January 1846, at St Giles Reading
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NVYP-D7D

But the man in question married Annie in Battersea in 1885 as James Walter Miller, father Thomas Miller, a Butler.

There is a death reg of a James Walter in 1929, no idea who he is
MILLER, JAMES  WALTER
Age at Death (in years): 71
GRO Reference: 1929  S Quarter in BICESTER  Volume 03A  Page 1031

Alice Rose is not on the 1891 entry

She's a visitor in a household with someone who looks very like her step grandmother and a new "husband" (no marriage found - but that's another story!) along with a Coles visitor who looks like her uncle

Looks like we've made it to 1897... I'll have a look at the chap in Bicester, just in case

Thank you for your kind words Jon  :)

I haven't managed to find the family on 1901 census though ???

There is this 1911 census entry a patient, right age but wrong pob  :-\

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XW83-XDG - Epsom Surrey
J.M. age 51, married, painter, Marylebone London

ADDED

There is an Emily MILLER age 14 born Wandsworth
Niece of George Percy & Agnes Jane SMITH on 1911 census in Battersea
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XW5D-CQB

It looks as if George Percy Smith married Agnes Jane Phipps Sep 1909 Wandsworth
