Thanks Karen,

Sad in a way, the Mother went to Sleepyhillock 1954 to look at taking his remains back to Germany to the family vault, however she thought the nice location and way graves were looked after that she would leave him.

The graves of him and the 3 other airmen were moved to Cannock Chase in 1963 .

 :( It is very sad.

Sleepyhillock sounds so sweet and gentle. In contrast to the events which led to the lads being buried there...

I've been searching for info on the family/father, but no luck yet. I'll keep trying. But as you have seen, Dave is the one who usually comes up with the important stuff.  ;D

All the best,
Karen

Cheers again.

There were two trains of though, hit by ship anti-aircraft fire or struck by Lightning.

I pulled the weather for the areas, so ruled lightning out. Leaving Ships AA fire.

The crash was in Den of Lauriston, but RAF always reported crashes at nearest main feature.   And St Cyrus is over 100 miles from Edinburgh

When Eduard died the squadron was based in Westerland on the island of Sylt, of the coast of northern Germany. They flew Junkers 88
