Robert Bailey Carlton, Bedfordshire
« on: Tuesday 08 September 20 17:25 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I've been trying to search for my 3x Great-grandfather Robert bailey's death record. I have his birth record as circa 1806 in Carlton Beds. His Baptism record shows 18/07/1807 born to Matthew and Catherine Bailey.

He marries Mary Ann Tye 16/11/1829 in Brigstock, Northants and has 4 children and I can see him in the 1841/51 and 61 censuses in Brigstock. His wife dies in 1837 and he marries again to Sarah Burdett in Nov 1837 and has another 6 children but then disappears. I have found a Robert Bailey who dies in Wellingborough in 1879 but his birth year was 1809 so probably not him. Other searches for the 1871 census have come up with nothing.

Thanks.

In 1861 he is widowed again, his occupation is noted as a Tailor.  Do any of the childrens marriages suggest that he is deceased.

Ages at death are dependant on the knowledge of the person registering them so are not reliable.

Who is this Robert Bailey? I can't make out the age on the burial. The record is on Anc and the transcript has age 1; I'm not convinced by that, it looks like 2 digits to me.

Burial
name: Robert Bailey
buried: 03 Apr 1866; St Andrew, Brigstock
abode: Brigstock
age: (61?) years

I can't see any obvious GRO death registrations either. A couple of possibilities:

1866 Q1 Death - Robert Bailey; age 57 (born c1809); West Derby; vol 8b; page 571
1866 Q2 Death - Robert Bailey; age 61 (born c1805); Wolverhampton; vol 6b; page 398

He was actual baptised at nearby Chellington on 19 July 1807 as per the PR transcript
