New Member can't access chat?

Hello, I recently joined this site and can see that I have 2 messages in chat, but can't access them? Is there a standard period of time before new members can use this feature or do I need to contact someone to access them? Thank you

I think that the (2) against chat relates number of people currently in chat room.  It is also showing for me as (2) and I don't use chat room.

A new member also has to make at least 2 (qualifying) posts before Chat is open to them.
Same rules as the Personal Messaging system.

It's to deter spammers

Certain boards don't qualify - such as Totally Off Topic.

It is generally better if you use the boards and not the chat for your queries as it reaches a wider audience  . We are always ready to help
