Ruth Jones - a very enjoyable episode.  I know of Gavin & Stacey, but have never watched it - maybe I will give it a go now. :)

My Dad's family are from North Wales, but my gran and her two sisters all spoke Welsh when they got together.  I took the language in school for a year and a half, and still retain a smattering of it - I can count to 10, say good morning and Merry Christmas!  LOL  I'm glad the attempts to eradicate it failed.

Cheers all

This was a very enjoyable episode.

Knowing that Ruth Jones is a South Walian I thought there would be mining ancestors, but they mostly  seafarers. I found the part about the National Aid Society very enlightening.

Ruth is good actress, under -rated, really. I think she was in Bleak House, but she also was in a drama about the life of Hattie Jacques; well worth watching if you can find it anywhere !!

She's a wonderful actress, and - having watched Gavin and Stacey - if you can ever erase Nessa from your memory, you're a better man than I am.

People who`ve not watched Gavin and Stacey will have missed the references Ruth made during the programme.

It`s lush !!

I’m trying not to read this thread as I haven’t (yet) seen any of the episodes in this series, but saw mention of Ruth Jones and “Gavin and Stacey”.

This series is a classic. Brilliant characters, many classic lines, very funny, highly recommended.
