This is a good example of research help.

I have BIDDLE ancestors from Leicestershire.
Earliest ones are Jonathan BEADLES born before 1690 in Whissendine Rutland ENG.
died 1763.

The name BIDDLE has changed from Beadles to Biddle/s  over time and family lived in Leicestershire,
Rutland, Lincolnshire,
Most worked on the land.
When we were in UK searching for Biddle ancestry many folk suggested Biddles from Staffordshire as well as Counties mentioned.

Hope you find your answers,
don't forget to look in ONE NAME STUDY for BIDDLE
available in rootschat.

Thanks for finding those baptisms, the variety of surname spellings make it really tricky to find people especially as you say the variety increases further back you get!!!.

I find familysearch are better at picking up variations of spelling of names, although I think I had to do 'Biddulph' and 'Biddle' on different searches - didn't pick up those might have been variations of the same thing.
They certainly picked up the 'Bydulp' as a variation of 'Biddulph'.

Thank you for the tip. I have just finished logging all of the baptisms for Biddle/Biddulph and varieties of for Staffordshire between 1600 and 1700 on Familysearch and will create a database to work on family groupings which I will cross reference with the images of the baptism records on FindMyPast to work out family groupings. Once done I will look at the marriages. Then hopefully I can plot them all on google maps to get some ideas of migration patterns over time etc.
I am very grateful to you.
Best wishes, Emma

Hi there,
Thanks for getting back to me, I will check out the one name study, thank you. I am sure that the Biddles in your areas and mine in Staffordshire are connect somewhere along the way. My ancestors seam to use Biddle and Biddulph interchangably and for some of the Biddulphs PR records 'alias Biddle' is written so I think Biddle might have been a kind of nickname. I think way back they were connected to the Biddulphs of Biddulph in Staffordshire, sometimes people refer to the place as Biddle and Biddulph Moor as Biddle Moor!! So people and the place use the names interchangably! Thanks also for making me aware of the Beadles variation as well.
Best wishes to you,
Emma
