I wonder if anyone can help me, my mothers name is Eva Dana Hicks beyond that I know nothing of her side of my family as I was not allowed to know her or them when I was growing up.  Even now with me being an adult I still can't get anyone to answer anything about that side of my family only that her mother was the first born in the United States from Ireland.  Can anyone please help?

Was Hicks your mothers maiden name or her married name?  If her married name - we need her birth surname

When was she born and in which state?

If she was born in the USA - have you found her on any available US census - assuming she was born before 1940

What were your grandparents names?

Hicks is her maiden name and she was born in Ohio in 1950's beyond that I don't know anything, no one will tell me anything besides I do have relatives still living in Ireland as they tried to visit me at work in the late 90's however I was off that day and I don't even know where to begin.  I apologize my family seems to be very secretive about it all on both my mothers side and my fathers, which is also from Ireland.

As previously mentioned, Rootschat has a policy of not naming living persons, so we may have to be careful.

Some questions:
1) Is your mother deceased?  If so, when and where?
2) Is HICKS her maiden name?
3) Do you know when and where your mother was born?
4) Do you know when and where (or if) your parents were married?

If we can establish the parents of your mother we can work on filling the gaps in your family tree, - either posting the details on here or posting links to other websites which have the details you need.

So I just got some new information my maternal grandmother was born in Dublin in 1920 and her name was  Marie Theresa Hicks but her maiden name was Fitzpatrick.
