Emigration of Pauper Children to Australia 1852
« on: Monday 28 September 20 16:20 BST (UK) »
I have just come across a brief article in Vol 12 of Bath History (Bath Preservation Trust) which details the emigration of pauper girls from the Bath Union Workhouse, to Australia. The Board of Guardians to pay £10 towards the costs for each girl.

The girls in question were Eliza Arnold (19), Caroline Coleman (15), Matilda Hall (14) and Marianne Atkins (no age recorded).

What records might be available to trace their subsequent lives in Australia?

They sailed for Western Australia from Plymouth in 1852 on the "Palestine".
