Buchanan

Hi All,
Im after some help in trying to trace the Buchanan family line of a Archibald Buchanan born Abt 1710 in Glenurquhart, Inverness-shire, Scotland. He apparently moved to Dunscaith, Parish of Sleat, Isle of Skye, Inverness-shire, Scotland and married a Katherine MacDonald. His father is named as Norman Buchanan of Miltoun?
Any help with this family would be a great acheivement.

Hi Don,
Trying to trace back my family tree. My relative Sarah Fletcher 1733-1769 married Peter Buchanan 1740-1803. Peter was born in Dunscaith, Parish of Sleat and according to information he fell out with his father and ended up in Lythe by Whitby North Yorkshire. He re-married when Sarah died to a Alice Richardson, all well documented. Katherine MacDonald was the daughter of Norman MacDonald 2nd of Bernisdale & Scalpay 1636-1740 all well documented back to the Lords of the Isles. Peter's father was Archibald Buchanan. Mike,

The problem is there are limited to no OPR Births or Marriages for that timeframe on Skye which I'll assume you discovered on Scotland's People.  Did you search the NAS  http://catalogue.nrscotland.gov.uk/nrsonlinecatalogue/search.aspx there are numerous records of the Buchanan family held there.  The other option would be Armadale Museum on Skye, I was amazed at the extent of their Skye records, they may hold information beneficial to your search.

Btw...If I connect Fletcher+Lofthouse I get PG&O.
