John McDonald
« on: Saturday 10 October 20 20:15 BST (UK) »
Another Carnwath 'Hutchison' was John Hutchison. But he only became a Hutchison when aged 2, his mother Agnes Blair married Isaac Hutchison in 1850. He was actually born John McDonald, with the father in 1848 named on the birth cert as John McDonald, and acknowledging the baby as his 'natural son.
Who was John McDonald snr ?

Hi Broofer

Are you directly connected to the Hutchison's in this post?  I can't see a connection to Isaac

Yes Isaac ran in the family. There was Isaac 1815, father of Isaac 1862. It was this one's brother, John 1848, who was father of my granny Catherine 1878. but it turns out that granny's father was born John McDonald, not Hutchison.

In what way was Isaac related to the Thomas Hutchison who is the original subject of this post?

Isaac was b 1815 Carstairs whereas Thomas was b 1834 Carnwath.  Parents were different

Unless there is a direct connection - your post needs to be moved by the moderator and treated as new otherwise it will cause confusion on this post

1861 has in Carnwath
Thomas Hutchison 27
Euphemia             23
Thomas                  1

In 1851, the nearest Thomas in age and place is 18-y-o in Cambusnethan, a farm servant with farmer Carmichael on Edinburgh Road. Born in Carnwath.

In 1841 he would be the 8-y-o in Carnwath on his own with Elizabeth Noble 45 farmer

And so he becomes the Thomas born 1832 in Carnwath to Thomas Hutchison and Elizabeth Bannatyne.

And ( guessing now ) this Thomas was born in Carstairs between 1807 and 1813, three possibles, none of which match my lot at the time. Sorry. Beware two of those are Hutchesons with an E.

[ Always amazed how one keeps going -----]

Two of the last Thomases were b to Robert Hutchison/Hutcheson and Agnes Main/Mayne in 1807-1813. My own possible James Hutcheson ( father of Isaac ) was b 1799 to the same couple.

No - that birth makes him too young. My James was a son of James Hutchison and Betty Stewart. James was born 1774 and the family was in Lanark at this time. I have been through the siblings of each generation and my first Thomas appears in 1872 ( son of Isaac H and Agnes Blair ). So sorry
again if I have misled you.
