History of the culme valley book
« on: Tuesday 13 October 20 01:53 BST (UK) »
Would anyone know if it's still possible to obtain a copy of the book "The history of the Culme valley and its villages: Hemyock, Culmstock Clayhidon, Dunkeswell, Churchstanton, Uffculme by Robert L Thorne published in 1951?

Perhaps it is available somewhere as an e-book?  Have done a google search but only found it in catalogues of libraries.
Thanks

Sorry. I looked at the Gutenberg Project and at Read Free from Internet, but no luck. I think you're more likely to find it here, from someone who picked it up years ago, perhaps at a church. I have you tried asking the vicars at some of the villages?

Thanks so much for checking the two book sites.  I might try to find a second hand book shop in Devon who specialises in local history, they may have a copy.

Have you considered trying to find a local history society who may have a copy, and may be able to scan it for you.  It appears to be a short paperback (26 pages?) and the author has written other books about the region.

There may be problems with copyright.  I doubt the library would photocopy the whole book for me but I won't know until I try.  Thanks for these suggestions.
