No 3 Seafire Squadron
« on: Tuesday 20 October 20 13:16 BST (UK) »
The back of this photo has a note saying
"Seafires" H.M.S. Valluru, Tambaram, 14th October 1945

Maybe of interest if anyone else's relatives were in this squadron.

My late Pa in Law is on the far left at the front and his service record shows 2 entries for Valluru
9th Jul 45  27 Aug 45 - substantive rating A/P[O/D unclear]R

and 28th Aug 45 to 14 Nov 45 substantive rating PO RM

Is anyone able to tell me if the dates are 'split' because he was transferred to another squadron/unit or would it be because his rating had changed?

Thanks
Boo

The "split dates" are due to promotion.
to 27 Aug 1945: A/PO - Acting Petty Officer
