I can confirm that the 1916 birthdate is correct - that is given in Krzystek's List which is a semi-official record of the men of the Polish Air Force.  I had not thought about his adopted name but I have checked with his great nephew and he says that Jordon was the name of his first Mother in Law so that may be why he used that name.  Edward probably because people shortened Tadeusz to Ted (rather than Tad).
